Agency urging use
of weather radios

During an emergency, it might be several days before vital services are restored. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration emergency alert weather radios activate to provide immediate information about life-threatening events, giving extra time to prepare and evacuate if necessary. Alerts are sent out to tell people that they need to take immediate action to protect themselves and their families.

We agree.  As we have written before, we highly recommend that every household has a weather radio.

Other ways to keep aware of dangerous weather:

The Weather Channel Alerts
AccuWeather.com ALERT

Both are free and can send you alerts via email and text message.
