Aggravated Battery Incident in Crystal Lake

As the subject approached the female victim, he had his hand in his pocket and implied that he had a firearm. The offender told the victim that if she attempted to call out for help or didn’t obey his instructions that he would harm her. During the confrontation with the suspect, the offender grabbed the victim and attempted to guide her to a more secluded location in the alley, he also struck the victim twice in the face and a brief struggle ensued. The victim was able to break free from the suspect and flee the area. She immediately notified the police at which time the police responded and were unable to locate the offender.

This occurred on a Monday afternoon in a busy area of downtown Crystal Lake, not some remote location.  Just reinforces that everyone needs to be aware of their surroundings and prepared to take action if necessary.  Thankfully, the victim got away safe but it could have turned very bad.
